SCCM 2007
CENTRAL SITE: Central site is a SCCM 2007 site which resides at the top of hierarchy. Central site has a database of its own and has the data of all the sites under it. You can manage any site from the Central Site Configuration Manager Console beneath the site.
PRIMARY SITE: Primary site is a SCCM 2007 site which has a database of its own. It can be managed from Configuration Manager Console under Primary Site. All the Clients under Primary Site, which would also be the secondary sites would be assigned to the Primary Site. It can have child sites as Primary Sites or Secondary Sites. It itself can be a Child site of another Primary site up in Hierarchy.
SECONDARY SITE : Secondary sites do not have their own database. All data is stored in the database to primary site Database which the Site is connected to. Secondary site will be always a Child site and will be connected to a primary site. Incase, if you want to convert a Secondary site to Primary site then it would not be possible. If you attempt for this change, then you will loose all Secondary Site data. Secondary sites can be managed from the Primary Site Console to which the secondary site it is connected to.
